Utopia 404
2019
Project Description

Utopia 404 is a three-part experimental video series created as my undergraduate thesis project in the Digital Arts & Experimental Media program at the University of Washington. Exploring themes of online anonymity, parallel worlds, and the blurred boundary between physical and digital identity, the trilogy examines how internet spaces reshape selfhood, intimacy, and reality. Through dialogue, narrative, and glitch-based visual transformation, the works portray characters drawn toward digital existence as a site of connection, reinvention, and escape. Originally presented as an immersive video installation, Utopia 404 reflects my philosophical interest in how the internet mediates identity and asks whether virtual experience can feel more real than life in the physical world.
